Scottish smoked salmon smoker, John Ross, has been made finalist for four prestigious food awards at this year’s North East Scotland Food & Drink Awards, which take place at The Chester Hotel in Aberdeen on 19 March.
The announcement comes shortly after the smokehouse’s CEO, Christopher Leigh, faced an illustrious judging panel that included Sarah Mackie, Buying Director at Brakes, Graeme Fraser, Partner at Johnston Carmichael, Malcolm Gunnyeon, Partner at Dentons UK and Middle East LLP, and Neil Freckingham, Director at ONE Food Hub.
The four awards that the Aberdeen-based smokehouse hopes to win include the Export Award, Food & Drink Business Growth Award, Innovation Award and the Best Retail Product Award.
Christopher comments: "This is a fantastic result and one that the whole team at John Ross should be extremely proud of. I’m particularly pleased with the number and diversity of the awards we’ve been shortlisted for, which recognise specific products, our commitment to innovation within the food and drink sector, our international success and our overall growth. This is a great moment for John Ross and we look forward to finding out who the winners are later this month."
This year, 32 businesses across North East Scotland have been named finalists and over 300 guests, many of whom will he hoping to collect an award, are expected to attend the evening, which will celebrate 30 years of best practice in the food and drink sector.
