One of the last remaining traditional smokehouses and Scotland’s oldest commercial producer of traditional Scottish smoked salmon, John Ross Jr, has once again received the Grade A Global Standard for Food Safety from the British Retail Consortium (BRC).
The globally recognised accreditation scheme places the Aberdeen smokehouse in the top tier of worldwide producers fully committed to delivering the highest standards within the food production industry.
Founded in 1987, John Ross Jr now exports Scottish smoked salmon to over 30 countries around the globe. On the accreditation, Christopher Leigh, Director at the smokehouse, comments: “Grade A certification is becoming increasingly important for us at both domestic and international levels. Many of our UK customers insist on BRC accreditation and ensuring that we retain our quality levels across multiple international markets has never been more important. John Ross Jr is a world-class producer, so having world-class quality control procedures in place is essential if we are to continue to grow overseas.”
The standard provides certification for food manufacturers who implement robust manufacturing practices and that have supporting quality management systems in place across their entire organisation. This is the seventh year in which John Ross Jr has been awarded the certification.
