Managing Director of John Ross Jr, Christopher Leigh, has been appointed to the role of President of the Aberdeen Association of the Royal Warrant Holders Association (RWHA), the award-winning smokehouse has announced.
Leigh, 42, from Durris, will seek to build on important ties between the association's members and the Aberdeen business community, continue the success that the regional arm of the RWHA has established since its inception in 1871 and maintain close links with the Resident Factor on the Balmoral Estate.
John Ross Jr was granted the Royal Warrant in 1993 and has since played an active role in supporting the association.
The smokehouse, which first opened its doors in 1987 and has since grown into an international business, supplying 33 countries around the world, won the Queen’s Award for International Trade last year. It was the second time it was awarded the coveted Queen's Award for Enterprise in the company's 30-year history.
On the appointment Christopher comments: "It is an honour to accept this role and I am delighted to have been asked. The Royal Warrant Holders Association plays an extremely important role, not only with regards to the Aberdeenshire community but also internationally. The Royal Warrant, and those who have been chosen to represent all that it stands for, is an emblem of quality and being in a position to help unite those who share its values and its honour is a huge personal achievement and a role that I very much look forward to being involved with."
The Aberdeen Association, which includes 50 members as far out as Speyside, Angus and North Perthshire, holds annual events including its Annual Dinner and the Braemar Gathering.
