LUXURY PRAWN COCKTAIL LAUNCHED FOR CHRISTMAS

09/10/2014
By John Ross Jr

If there are two foods that never go out of fashion, it’s smoked salmon and prawn cocktail, which is why foodies will be delighted with John Ross Jr (Aberdeen) Ltd’s decision to launch a premium take on 1980s dinner party favourite, Prawn Cocktail, in time for the festive season.

The latest addition from the artisan Scottish smokehouse, known for its traditional smoked salmon, boasts luxuriously rich and creamy prawn cocktail sauce and juicy North Atlantic Prawns. Available in a larger-than-usual 400g pot, this classic has been created with Christmas entertaining in mind and makes an easy-to-prepare starter for any gathering this festive season.

John Ross Jr’s Luxury Prawn Cocktail can be purchased online at www.johnrossjr.com for £8.99.

Vicky Leigh-Pearson, John Ross Jr’s Sales Director, comments: “Prawn cocktail is a timeless classic and one that never fails to please. Whilst we’ve respected the essence of this traditional dish we’ve given it an extra layer of depth by using the highest quality and tastiest prawns available and combined it with a rich and creamy sauce that’s of a quality that people now come to expect from John Ross Jr.”

And for those who aren’t sold on flavour and quality alone here are a few facts when it comes to prawns.*

  • Prawns contain nearly 22 times the vitamin E found in beef and 19 times that of chicken.
  • Vitamin E found in prawns and other shellfish is a fat soluble vitamin and a powerful antioxidant. It is thought that the different forms of Vitamin E may be protective against cardiovascular disease and some forms of cancer.
  • 100g of prawns provides 18 times less total fat than an equivalent serving of salmon.
  • Contrary to popular belief, eating shellfish does not raise blood cholesterol.
