Aberdeen-based smokehouse, John Ross Jr (Aberdeen) Ltd, will be gracing the Royal gardens of Buckingham Palace next summer as part of the Queen’s Coronation festival – a four-day gathering of selected Royal Warrant Holders that has been launched to celebrate ‘The Best of British’.

John Ross Jr will join other prestigious brands with a global reputation for quality and craftsmanship including Bentley, John Lewis and jewellers Mappin & Webb on 11 – 14 July 2013.

As part of the festival celebrations, the fish merchants and curers to Her Majesty will build a replica of its traditional kilns in the Royal grounds to provide guests and visitors with a snapshot of the art and craft that goes into the traditional salmon smoking process.

In addition to its ‘simulated kilns’, John Ross Jr will be launching a limited edition celebration pack; John Ross ‘Original’ Smoked Salmon, a product that uses the original ingredients of a recipe that dates back 150 years and includes rum and sugar cane to create a unique and distinct flavour.

Some of the UK’s most prominent chefs will be on hand to provide smoked salmon carving masterclasses and demonstrate how smoked salmon can be used in a variety of dishes ranging from blinis to bakes.

On being one of the show’s main attractions at the exclusive event, John Ross Jr’s Director, Christopher Leigh, comments: “We are honoured to have been invited to showcase our award-winning smoked salmon products at this once in a lifetime event. Visitors will witness the level of dedication and commitment that goes in to creating some of the nation’s best-loved products. It also provides the chance for some of the world’s most prestigious brands to get together and celebrate 60 years of UK excellence in manufacturing and production.”

Established in 1987, John Ross Jr has gained a following for producing Scottish smoked salmon using traditional red brick kilns dating back to 1857. It has been supplying the Royal network of kitchens for over 22 years and in addition to celebrating the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee earlier this year it celebrated its own 25th anniversary.

Over 200 of the UK’s 800 Royal Warrant holders will be exhibiting their products, services and skills across four areas of the Festival: Homes & Gardens, Food & Drink, Design & Technology and Styles, Pursuits & Pastimes.

Exhibitors are exclusively Royal Warrant Holders however the festival is open to the general public. Tickets for the event, which are released on 16 December and expected to sell quickly, range from £30 for daytime tickets and £90 for the evening Gala tickets.
